News and Notes From Your Eldorado Farmers’ Market Team

Thank you to all the customers and vendors who joined us on opening day! It was great to see you again! Thanks, too, for everyone working together to make It a safe environment for all. It was so wonderful to have farm-fresh, just-picked salad greens, radishes, sugar peas, herbs and other produce, farm-fresh eggs (nothing better than a farm-fresh egg!), meats, and right out of the oven baked goods again. I can’t wait to see what else will be at the market this week! TIP: Try to get to the market before 6:00pm as many of the farmers sold out early last week. We ended up closing a little after 6:00pm. As more vendors and more produce/products show up, this will happen less, but just a warning, it can happen.

Next week, Drift & Porter & Revolution Farm return! Matthew, John, Alex, we can’t wait to see you!

This week we welcome for the first time Christopher De Jesus from Agua Y Suelo. He will be selling starts and wicking planters, then produce later in the summer. (See below for a picture of his starts). Some of you may know him from the Santa Fe Farmers’ market. Welcome, Christopher! Thank you for participating in our market!

Carol from White Duck Farm wrote in to say “I will be bringing salad greens, kale, dried mint for tea, remedios, goat milk soap and MOST IMPORTANTLY-I made bug spray for Eldorado’s no see ‘ums!!!! Yes, it IS that time of year.” Note: her bug spray is great! It was a must-buy for the market volunteers last year.

Randy from Cruz Ranch will have chicken, duck, goose, and turkey eggs available this week.

Laura from Laura Shubert’s Gardening is bringing jam, flowers, fresh cut herbs, floral syrups & osha syrups.

For a list of vendors for this week, please see below.

Just as a reminder, here are the current rules we are following at the market. As restrictions ease up, rules will change.

·        Please wear a face mask when you are at the market.

·        No customer handling of products.

·        Do not place your personal bags on vendors’ tables.

·        All vendors and staff must wear masks and gloves.

·        All vendors must have hand-washing stations or hand sanitizer on hand.

·        The Hot Dog Stand will sell to-go items only.

·        There is no seating or tables available for eating or socializing.

This Week At The Market

New distancing measures mean that some of your vendors locations may be in a different spot from last year. If you have problems finding your favorite vendors, stop by the Bienvenidos Outreach table and we will be happy to help you locate them!

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the following vendors plan to be with us this Friday:

Plants: Laura Shubert’s Gardening, Helen Zamora

Baked Goods/Prepared Foods/Specialties: Cloud Cliff Bakery, John Tyson, Santa Fe Jerky Co.

Meats: Red Barn Ranch

Eggs: Cruz Ranch

Produce/Herbs: La Capilla Farm, Evelyn’s Farm, Espanola Valley Farm, White Duck Farm, Paradox Farm, Nery Martinez Farm (pending), Hernandez Farm (pending)

Personal Care Items: Perfectly Posh

The Hot Dog Stand will be up and running with delicious hot dogs and sausages. These items are ‘to go” only. Proceeds from the sales of these items benefit Bienvenidos Outreach’s food programs.

As the weeks progress, you will be seeing more vendors showing up to start their season with us. We are looking forward to the market being open again and hope you have a safe and enjoyable experience with us!

Weekly Raffle Update

Instead of the weekly raffle, which is on hold until further notice, don’t be surprised if a market volunteer comes up to you (well, at least 6 feet from you!) and gives you an Eldorado Farmers’ Market coupon to spend at the market! It’s our way of saying thanks for coming to the market.

“See you at the Market”
